Having made a sign for Cayuga Mutual in 1995 they called us and asked us to help with a logo and sign design for their new head office building.
We designed and fabricated the main sign plus incorporated this logo in the brushed aluminum letters behind the reception desk and on name tags and desk plates.
We are currently designing a bronze dedication plaque commemorating the opening of their new building.
This 8-ft. by 43 inch sign was fabricated from solid 8/4 (2”) African Mahogany. It’s the first time we used this type of wood for a painted sign and it turned out very well. It was a shame to paint this beautiful red wood but it carved beautifully and is very strong. The logo is hand carved then gilded with 23-karat gold leaf. The raised sections with the address and the one with the established date (not in this picture) are carved in solid Butternut wood and are also gilded with gold leaf.
The logo was made from 1/4” solid brushed aluminum that matched the brushed aluminum accents throughout the building.
Note the chisel gouge marks and the wood grain in the logo’s swooshes. We feel this style of carving adds a distinctive look to a sign.
